Fitzalan square is one of the busiest areas of the city centre with traffic and pedestrians continually travelling through. Opposite is a taxi rank and super tram stop.
The surroundings are a mixture of betting shops, newsagents, bakery, bingo and the Sheffield institute of arts. The scenery needs a face lift as the current shops are not very appealing and attract the wrong kind of people to be wandering around the square. These puts some people of the general public using the space to sit down or have lunch as it can feel unsafe. Our design will use this to regenerate the former square by changing all the shops to be moving friendly/ balanced and interactive such as cafes, restaurants, markets, art shops.
